The U2 bassist Adam Clayton is suing the Bank of Ireland Private Banking and accounting firm Smith Co. Gaby € 4.8 million in misappropriated funds.
According to The Irish Independent, Adam says his former personal assistant, Carol Hawkins, took the money over five years, ending in November 2009.
Adam is looking for € 4.38 million - almost $ 7 million - alleging negligence and breach of contract. The accountants told him that the sum was diverted to € 13.585 million, when in fact it was closer to € 4.4 million, a report in September 2008.
Clayton also has a separate process from Carol Hawkins, who was charged with 184 counts of theft and fraud, in January 2011.
